Almost two decades of careful consideration and hard work after the birth of the initial idea, ParcLuxite business park was officially inaugurated on Friday, March 16, 2018, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider and the Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch.

Located in Kockelscheuer on the outskirts of the capital, this business park is different from all others: the historical site of the Poudrerie de Luxembourg, which is more than a century old, now hosts a 65-hectare complex dedicated to innovation and start-ups in development. “We actually want to make it a mini Silicon Valley,” says Charles-Louis Ackermann, President of Poudrerie de Luxembourg.

A little more than 40 years ago, Poudrerie de Luxembourg diversified its activities and created Accumalux, which has become one of the world leaders in battery production.

“Luxite” is the name of the type of industrial explosive produced, in its time, by Poudrerie de Luxembourg and for which it has been famous for nearly a century. It is a strong symbol for dynamism represented by the buildings that are now home to some thirty companies. Among the first tenants are Ergo insurers and ProNewTech, an independent Luxembourgish engineering consultant office specialised in ICT technologies, data centres and security technologies. These two companies joined Mabilux, specialised in the metal construction of buildings for industrial and commercial use, which was the first company to come and settle on the site.

Alongside them stands the monumental building, Luxite One, designed to welcome start-ups that are active in the field of environmental technologies. The first tenant is the Luxembourg subsidiary of the BAM construction group, which will develop innovative activities here.

Consulting Engineers, Schroeder & Associés, is also building its future headquarters here, which will soon house some 400 employees.

The Luxembourg government will provide a rental guarantee for part of the building’s spaces, built using many of the latest generation techniques and materials.
