The Digital Centre of Excellence that Thales Alenia Space will set up in Luxembourg will focus on the development of highly innovative digital solutions for space telecommunications and observation products. A Letter of Intent with the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy was signed on 18 June 2019.
The future high performance computer (HPC) will be part of the European HPC network, EuroHPC.
Composite materials specialist Euro-Composites will invest €160 million in its Luxembourg site in Echternach. The investment programme is supported by the government, the town of Echternach and the state-owned bank Société nationale de crédit et d'investissement (SNCI).
Luxembourg has been selected to host one of the high performance computers set up under the aegis of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC). The Luxembourg supercomputer will primarily be used to meet business needs, in particular those of SMEs and start-ups.
Ideally located in-between several major European consumer markets, Luxembourg provides global companies with many strategic advantages for conducting their business in, from and to Europe. These advantages, as well as developments to further enhance the competitiveness of the country’s logistics solutions, were highlighted at the Transport Logistic fair in Munich on 4-7 June 2019.
