World Happiness Report 2020: rankingLuxembourg is in the top 10 among the world’s happiest countries according to World Happiness Report 2020. The country ranks 8th on the list topped by Finland, Denmark and Switzerland.

This edition of World Happiness Report focuses on the effects of COVID-19 on the structure and quality of people’s lives and evaluates how governments all over the world have dealt with the pandemic.”There has been surprising resilience in how people rate their lives overall,” note the authors of the report. “The change from 2017-2019 to 2020 varied considerably among countries, but not enough to change rankings in any significant fashion materially. The same countries remain at the top.”

The report also notes bigger changes in emotions than in life satisfaction during the first year of 2020. Emotions worsened more during lockdown and recovered faster. For the world as a whole there was no overall change in positive affect, but the number of people saying that they were worried or sad the day before the survey increased with roughly 10%.
