Established in Luxembourg since 1994, family business Kronospan, specialised in the production of agglomerated or pressed wood panels, will invest a total of €330 million in its production site in Sanem over the next five years. In line with the principles of circular economy, the planned investments mainly consist in the setting-up a second cogeneration plant as well as in extending the production capacities of the plant.

Luxinnovation co-organised a hybrid business forum for the wood sector during the just concluded official trade mission to Latvia with the aim to facilitate exchanges between the Luxembourg wood companies and representatives from the Latvian wood sector. During the meeting, both parties expressed their interest in expanding economic cooperation and developing joint research activities.

The Eureka network and the Clusters, together with 16 countries, join forces to accelerate sustainability by setting up a Joint Call for RD&I projects that address this challenge. The Call will focus on Sustainable industry. Projects can be submitted until 2 May.

Between 25 October and 16 November 2021, the Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub (L-DIH) team toured the country with its yellow bus to meet manufacturing companies and discuss their digital transformation and implementation of an industry 4.0 approach. The exercise was deemed a success, and the team intends to repeat it in 2022.
