The Luxembourg economic mission to Japan in 2024 is set to foster economic ties and explore new partnership opportunities between Luxembourg and Japan. Organised by a consortium of Luxembourg’s key economic and governmental institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, the Luxembourg Embassy in Tokyo, the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office Tokyo, Luxinnovation and the Luxembourg Space Agency, this mission will concentrate on key topics such as space, healthtech, cybersecurity and ICT.

The delegation will be headed by H.R.H. the Crown Prince of Luxembourg and led by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, and Carlo Thelen, CEO of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

Japan and Luxembourg: Strong business relationships

Luxembourg and Japan have robust business relationships, capitalising on mutual strengths in sectors like space, healthtech, robotics, artificial intelligence and ICT. Both countries focus on developing solutions for overcoming societal challenges through digital transformation and innovation.

As the fourth largest global economy by nominal GDP, Japan boasts a highly advanced and export-driven market and its technological leadership and innovation present vast opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Luxembourg is an attractive location for innovative Japanese companies as a launch pad for the wider European market.

Mission highlights

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore new market opportunities and learn about Luxembourg and Japan as springboards for business expansion.
