Employers in Luxembourg have access to a highly skilled workforce – the country ranks 1st in the world for highly skilled employment (STATEC, 2018). The talent pool consists of people from all over Europe and the world. 74% of the workforce are foreigners, both foreign nationals residing in Luxembourg and cross-border workers that commute every day from neighbouring countries. The 2020 Global Talent Competitiveness Index ranks Luxembourg 8th in the world.

The language skills of the multicultural population are outstanding: speaking three or more languages is the norm rather than the exception. In addition to the three national languages, Luxembourgish, German and French, English is widely spoken and frequently used as a business language. This makes it easy to deal with customers in different countries and find staff able to gain an in-depth understanding of their needs.

The cosmopolitan environment makes it easy for expatriates to settle quickly in Luxembourg. In order to make it easy for employers to recruit top-level skills from around the world, simplified work permit procedures for qualified personnel from outside the EU have been put in place.

ADEM, the national employment office, provides services to employers looking for the right candidates to meet their staff needs.
