Nektria was one of the first two companies supported by Luxembourg’s Digital Tech Fund, a seed fund launched by the government in 2016 to fund ICT start-ups, receiving €500,000 each.

Following 2,000 files that were analysed during a period of 12 months, Luxembourg’s Digital Tech Fund considered more than 200 for investment. The two chosen start-ups, “…will contribute positively to the emergence of a vibrant ecosystem in Luxembourg.” said Alain Rodermann, founding member of Expon Capital, which manages the Digital Tech Fund.

Originally, a Barcelona based start-up, Nektria’s products focus on developing SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions for the optimisation of fleet management, cost-effective delivery, dynamic pricing and increasing customer satisfaction.

Javier Juncadella, who has been CEO of Nektria since 2014, has over 13 years of experience in management, consulting and IT; he has worked as a consultant in companies such as IBM and Everis. During his career at Maersk and IBM, Javier participated in R&D projects devoted to mobility, such as container monitoring and traceability.

“Nektria aims at becoming the new gold standard for last mile delivery management,” says Javier.  The team combines a strong multidisciplinary skillset with extensive expertise in logistics, AI, software engineering and business management.

Nektria is a good fit for Luxembourg because there is already a thriving logistics ecosystem in this country that is well primed to meet the challenges of rising global production and demanding consumption habits and what Nektria Luxembourg is offering is logistics and delivery solution model.  “The country and government is heavily betting on turning into a logistics and ecommerce hub.  This is very important for us.” Javier Juncadella CEO at Nektria

Nektria develops SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions covering Last Mile for e-Commerce and bridges the gap between shopper, merchant, carrier, and cities which results in a win-win situation for all four players:

  • The shopper can choose where and when to receive his/her online purchase at a variable price (incentives)
  • Your online store can now offer premium delivery
  • The carrier can use this valuable information to improve planning.
  • The impact over cities is minimised: less traffic, lower carbon trace, less noise.

Luxembourg is also a good fit for Nektria, partly because the country is an ultra-low-latency hub with 28 international fibre routes to main European Hubs.  “We chose Luxembourg not just because of the investment into our company. We want our international digital development team here, which makes us physically closer to our customers in Europe. We have also a full support from Luxinnovation who introduced us to contacts within the start-up ecosystem and provided essential information to structure our financial roadmap including potential R&D collaborations.”
