Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) – for example artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, industrial biotechnology, advanced materials or advanced manufacturing technologies – are instrumental for industrial companies wishing to modernise and increase their productivity and competitiveness. The European Commission has identified KETs as instrumental in modernising Europe’s industrial base and driving the development of entirely new industries.

KETs are a key priority in Horizon 2020. An in-depth revision of the KETs supported by the programme was recently done in order to verify whether they were still relevant to the current economic and technological context, and several new topics were added.

Industry 4.0 & Horizon 2020

On the occasion of the workshop “Industry 4.0 & Horizon 2020” organised in 2018, Luxinnovation prepared a report on the European funding landscape for industrial technologies.

This report, aimed at Luxembourg industrial technology players in both the private and the public sector, provides an excellent insight into the European environment in the field.

With detailed analyses of the European Commission’s policies regarding KETs, as well as of investment and funding opportunities and Public-Private Partnerships built around the industrial sector, the report aims to help boosting Luxembourg’s Horizon 2020 participation and chances for success.

Luxinnovation is the National Contact Point for Horizon 2020, the European framework programme for research and innovation. Building on our decade-long experience of EU funding programmes, we are able to respond to questions on where to get up-to-date information on programmes and calls for project proposals, what programmes are the most suitable for you or where and how to find European partners.
