Initiated by the Ministry of the Economy in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and IMS (Inspiring More Sustainability) Luxembourg, the strategic study on the “Third Industrial Revolution” was presented on 14 November 2016 at the “Luxembourg Sustainability Forum 2016”. 

Present at the event was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Étienne Schneider, Carlo Thelen, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, Michel Wurth, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Christian Scharff, President of IMS Luxembourg and Jeremy Rifkin, who is an American economic and social theorist, writer, public speaker, political advisor, and activist.

The strategic study aims to develop a more sustainable and interconnected economic model for future generations, based on the convergence of energy, transport and information and communication technologies within a smart grid. It was carried out using a participatory approach in collaboration with Jeremy Rifkin and his team of experts.
