Foreign direct investment increase 1H19 - 1H22In spite of the war in Ukraine and global inflation, foreign direct investment into several countries is already surpassing pre-pandemic levels in several countries including Luxembourg. A study by fDi Intelligence places the country in 6th place globally, and 4th in the EU, when comparing investment during the first half of 2022 with investment made during the first half of 2019.

Net increase in foreign direct investment

Foreign direct investment increased by 85% in Luxembourg during the first 6 months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019. “Luxembourg has surpassed investment levels seen in the whole of 2020 and in the first half of 2019, putting it on track to return to pre-pandemic levels,” the study notes.
