Luxembourg ranks 8th on the list produced by tourism lodging online marketplace Airbnb of destinations that are trending in 2020. The ranking is based on an analysis of Airbnb booking data for 2020 as of September 2019 and compared with 12 months earlier. “Looking ahead to travel planning for next year, we’re forecasting growing interest in lesser known and eco-conscious cities and countries across the world,” the company states.

Top destinations

Milwaukee (United States), Bilbao (Spain) and Buriram (Thailand) top the ranking. It also includes, among others, Xi’an in China, the Vanuatu archipelago, Aberdeen in Scotland, the French village of Contamines-Montjoie and the Indian state of Kerala.

The year-over-year increase in bookings for Luxembourg is 167%. In addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the centre of the capital, Airbnb lists the country’s “forested hills [that] are home to medieval castles, rocky gorges, charming villages and superb vineyards” among Luxembourg’s attractions.
