From 20 to 25 October 2019, Luxembourg hosted workshops for the Functional Safety - ISO TC22/SC32/WG8 group, which is working on the new ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 safety standards. Its objective: to develop a unified safety standard for all automotive electrical and electronic systems.
The country, which ranks particularly high in the "technology" category, gains three places compared to last year.
Silicon Valley-based start-up Civil Maps has developed a unique, scalable high definition, 3D mapping and localisation solution suitable for routing autonomous vehicles. The company is setting up its European headquarters in Luxembourg in order to address the European market for self-driving cars and logistics.
A Luxembourg delegation will join the M:bility California conference in San José on 17-18 September 2019. The Luxembourg representatives will share the country’s progress in the field of testing automated and connected driving in a cross-border environment with access to 5G connectivity.
In the coming years, autonomous, driverless vehicles will take to the roads – a dramatic change, both for passengers of such cars and buses and for other drivers. With support from Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) has set up a Horizon 2020 funded project studying how this mobility of the future will impact individuals, businesses and society.
In the past five years, Slush has grown into the largest single gathering of venture capital in the world. In 2018, over 1,800 investors joined Slush, representing over 200 billion dollars in assets under management. This year, Slush Helsinki is expecting more than 25 000 attendees, 4 000 startups and scaleups, 700 tech journalists, as well as 2000 investors from over 130 countries. Read more
