“Luxembourg is the perfect location to set up a European office if you are looking to get closer to vehicle development teams in Europe,” says Joost Ortjens, Head of Sector Development Automotive at Luxinnovation and one of the speakers at the event. “It is the ideal place to run a European business from just one location, with the appropriate international business culture and broad language skills needed.”

Setting up a European operation

Europe needs international innovators to solve its mobility challenges, and has much to offer in terms of promising business opportunities. This is why the Luxembourg delegation has decided to come to California and present what the country has to offer in terms of R&D, investment incentives, cross-border relations and technology networks. Author and consultant Dr Mario Herger, CEO of Enterprise Garage, will give a keynote presentation on the most attractive business opportunities in European innovative mobility industry.

Luxembourg is the ideal place to run a European business from just one location.

The event will give participants an insight into where and how Luxembourg can help in setting up a European operation, and how to connect to European OEMs and Tier1 suppliers. Smart mobility is a key focus area and Luxembourg is the ideal setting for adjusting products and services to the expectations of the European market. “We offer dedicated infrastructures for the development, testing and validation of forward-looking mobility solutions, including our digital cross-border testbed in collaboration with France and Germany,” adds Mr Ortjens.

Multi-national and business friendly

With a foreign population of 50% made up of more than 170 nationalities, Luxembourg is also the most open and international economy in Europe. The country offers political and economic stability, a prime business location bordering the major European markets of Germany and France, and an international and highly skilled workforce. Luxembourg is ranked as the third most globalised economy and second of the most business-friendly countries in the world.

Key business sectors in Luxembourg also include space technologies, life sciences, fintech, clean technologies and logistics, all highly connected to and dependent on ongoing top level IT developments. In addition, Luxembourg is home to a flourishing international start-up community.

Open invitation

Pierre Franck, Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in San Francisco, Dr Raphaël Frank, Head of 360Lab of the University of Luxembourg and Joost Ortjens will represent Luxembourg at the event. Entrepreneurs who are interested but cannot make it on 3rd October are invited to contact the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in San Francisco who be delighted to answer questions and provide further information about what Luxembourg has to offer.
